Day 37: Tue 1 Aug 23 - Mackay

Tue 1 Aug 23 - Mackay

Weather:  14 Deg, clear, sunny and very slight breeze, reaching 22 with increasing SSE winds in the afternoon and remaining sunny - another glorious day.

I called uncle first thing this morning to check on him. He sounded good, but very agitated with being confined to his room and not being able to go for his regular walks and participate in his group activities. He started a course of Anti Viral Tablets last night which will last for 5 days, and they appear to be already reducing what little effects he has had from Covid. Otherwise he was in good spirits.

After breakfast and a few chores, at 9.30, I went for a very enjoyable 27km / 1.5hr bike ride out to the marina, into the city, around the wetlands and back through the city to the caravan. It was great to get out on the bike again; a most enjoyable ride.

Back at the van, I had a snappy shower and changed, then Noel and I drove out to Eimeo Beach to meet Lyndi for coffee at 1130. Eimeo Beach is a beautiful location below the Eimeo Hotel, and a young local lady who owns and operates the 'Bubbles' Coffee Van at the beach in front of the Surf Life Saving Club, produced very nice coffee. We sat and chatted for about 1.5hours, then Lyndi returned home to Black's Beach around the corner, while we went grocery shopping at Rural View for our four day stay at Finch Hatton from tomorrow.

Back at the van, I packed away the bike, awning and what little furniture I had out, then I popped around to visit Fay and Phil to return the trolley jack and say goodbye, refuelling and calling Uncle again on the way back. Uncle seemed a bit more settled, and even sounded less croaky than he did this morning. Dinner tonight was a rare occasion dining out at the nearby 'Grove' Hotel in Andergrove - all meals were surprisingly very good quality, tasty and well presented. We were back at van early by 8.30pm feeling quite tired and ready for bed. Tomorrow morning we have an early start, needing to have the van at 'Yard 5' for Mitch to check the wheels / bearings at 7am.

We are parked between two massive bus motorhomes

One serious rig - The trailer behind this prime mover is a massive motor home, and under the awning on the passenger side is parked a large caravan towed by a new 300 Series Landcruiser. This rig was parked here in the same spot when we stayed here in 2021.
